Our Therapy Approach

At Cornerstone, we believe in offering psychological services that are logical, informed, and accountable. With professionalism and sensitivity, our psychologists use a science based model of therapeutic practice to find the quickest way to resolve core issues. Our goal is to provide our clients with experiences that promote real and lasting change.

We believe in providing psychological services that treat underlying issues - not short-term “band-aid” solutions that simply manage symptoms or surface problems. This means that our clients get the help they need with an aim toward optimizing their fullest potential. The goal is fewer ’failed’ or ‘repeat’ courses of therapy that can lead to frustration and requires additional time, money, and resources. Our approach does not necessarily mean a longer course of therapy - only a more holistic view of what it should entail.

Therapy is a place where individuals can feel supported, heard, and understood. It can also involve a lot of hard work. In order for therapy to have the best chance of success, it is important that clients trust and feel comfortable with their clinician. Throughout the therapy process, our psychologists will frequently ‘check-in’ with our clients to ensure that they are getting what they need and feel comfortable with the therapy sessions. We value accountability to both our referral sources and our clients. Our psychologists are open about ‘what works’ in therapy and we work collaboratively with our clients to help them achieve their personal goals.
